- 第 1-3 章 铺垫区:范围、引用文件、术语,审核不考,翻过即可;
- 第 4 章 组织环境:战略层——内外部环境、相关方需求、体系范围;
- 第 5 章 领导作用:一把手工程——方针、职责、资源、客户导向;
- 第 6-8 章 做事区:策划(P)、支持与运行(D);

Open the IATF16949 standard and its ten-clause table of contents, and many quality people get lost: clauses memorised, yet nothing lines up during an audit. In fact it shares one skeleton with ISO9001 — clauses 1-3 set the stage, 4-5 set the direction, and 6-10 run the PDCA cycle. Understand the skeleton and the standard turns from a book into a single map.
▌ Ten Clauses on One Map: Sort Them First, Then Read the Clauses
- Clauses 1-3, the preface zone: scope, normative references, terms — not audited, skim and move on;
- Clause 4, context of the organization: the strategic layer — internal and external issues, interested-party expectations, scope of the system;
- Clause 5, leadership: the top-management job — policy, responsibilities, resources, customer focus;
- Clauses 6-8, the doing zone: planning (P), support and operation (D);
- Clauses 9-10, the checking and improving zone: performance evaluation (C), improvement (A).
▌ Clauses 4-5: Set the Direction — If 5.1 Fails, Everything Else Idles
Clause 4 answers three questions first: what is going on outside, what is going on inside, and what do interested parties expect. IATF adds one specific requirement here — customer-specific requirements of automotive customers must be identified and integrated into the system; documents like Volkswagen's Formel Q land exactly here. In clause 5 the quality policy is set by top management, the system is resourced by top management, and customer focus is led by top management; if clause 5.1 does not land, the rest of the standard just idles.
▌ Clauses 6-7: Plan Before You Act, Load the Ammunition First
Clause 6 is planning: identify risks and opportunities, set quality objectives, line up the responses. Objectives are not slogans on the wall — they must be quantifiable, breakable down and auditable. Clause 7 is support: are people competent, is equipment sufficient, how are documents and records controlled, do the communication channels work — the first half of D, loading the ammunition before the work starts.
▌ Clauses 8-10: Do, Check, Improve — the Weight Sits in Clause 8
Clause 8, operation, is the thickest chapter in the book: review of product requirements, design and development, supplier control, production, release, nonconforming-product disposal — the five core tools, control plans, poka-yoke and traceability all hang here, which is also where audit sampling is densest. Clause 9, performance evaluation: customer satisfaction, process metrics, internal audits, management review — reports nobody evaluates mean there is no C. Clause 10, improvement: what to do about nonconformities, how to close corrective actions, how to push continuous improvement — and then the next PDCA cycle begins.
▌ Ten Clauses in One Sentence
Compress the ten clauses into a single path: clauses 1-3 set the stage, clause 4 reads the environment, clause 5 puts leadership on the hook, clause 6 plans, clauses 7-8 do the work, clause 9 checks, clause 10 improves — and then the cycle rolls on.
One line to remember: the standard is not a book, it is a PDCA road — draw the skeleton first and the clauses fall into place.
